This is an outstanding opportunity to practice with two distinctly unique health systems, St. Lukes in Sugar Land and OakBend in Richmond. The lead APP serves at both locations. The unique aspect of this position is that it affords the selected candidate the flexibility of scheduling between 2 ERs, just 21 minutes apart.  Both are Lev. IV, yet the services and operations are different, thus promising to enrich the scope of practice and experience.

St. Lukes Health - Sugarland Hospital offers the latest technology and treatments for residents of Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston. Services range from heart care and neuroscience to robotic surgery. The recently opened Family Birthing Center. Since 2008, the experienced doctors, nurses, and support staff have provided expert care to support the community.

OakBend Medical Center is the only not-for-profit Independent Heath system in Texas. They serve the SW portion Fort Bend County and surrounding regions and have experienced tremendous growth. OakBend is comprised of three (3) hospitals, two are in Richmond and only their busier ER on Jackson Street schedule APPs along with 24-hour physician coverage.  Although they have an ICU, they see lower acuity and their transfer rate is higher.   

St. Lukes Health - Sugarland Hospital ED

  • APP Coverage and shifts:  9 hours; M-F Noon - 9pm; Sa - Su Noon - 8pm
  • Physician Coverage:  24 hours - single doc coverage
  • Trauma Center: Level IV
  • Annual Visits: 17,000; PPH~2.0
  • ED Beds: 16
  • Admit Rate: 24% - Hospitalists handle admissions
  • POCUS: Sonosite
  • EMR: Epic; Dictation: Dragon
  • Scribes: No

  • ICU Beds: 16
  • Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade: Rated A - Spring 2025 & Fall 2024

OakBend Medical Center - Jackson Street ED

  • APP Coverage and shifts:  40 hours/week (M-F, noon-8pm)
  • Physician Coverage:  24 hours - single doc coverage
  • Trauma Center: Level IV
  • Annual Visits: 16,500 Patients per year (> 2 Pts./hour)
  • ED Beds: 16
  • Admit Rate: 10% admission rate; 5% transfers
  • EMR: EMR Paragon (formerly AllScripts); Dictation - Dragon
  • Scribes: No

Hospital:

  • 120-Bed Hospital
  • Full labs on site; Xray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, US, POCUS

Qualifications:

    • One or more years of post-grad Hospital ER experience
    • Texas Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with ENP-C 
    • DEA
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH

Compensation

  • W2 Only: $90-95/hr, average (RVU and/or QSP metric componant)
