Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position with typical work hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay: Competitive salary with annual performance bonuses and regular salary increases.
  • Paid Time Off:
    • 26 days of annual leave

About the Role:

As the Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) in Reno, Nevada, the incumbent will oversee and lead the PM&R department. This role involves both administrative and clinical duties, ensuring the highest standard of care for veterans while managing the operational aspects of the department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:

    • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the PM&R department.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
    • Supervise and mentor PM&R staff, including physicians, therapists, and support personnel.
  2. Clinical Duties:

    • Evaluate and treat patients with physical disabilities and impairments.
    • Design comprehensive rehabilitation programs tailored to individual patient needs.
    • Oversee the use of therapeutic modalities to improve patient outcomes.
    • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
  3. Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Manage the departments budget and resources efficiently.
    • Develop and monitor performance metrics to ensure departmental goals are met.
    • Foster a collaborative environment with other medical departments and services.
    • Represent the PM&R department in medical staff meetings and committees.
  4. Quality Improvement:

    • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
    • Ensure continuous professional development for the PM&R team through training and education.
    • Implement evidence-based practices within the department.
  5. Patient and Staff Safety:

    • Ensure a safe working environment for staff and patients.
    • Adhere to all VA safety policies and guidelines.
    • Address patient and staff concerns promptly and professionally.
  6. Community and Outreach:

    • Engage with the community to promote the services offered by the PM&R department.
    • Collaborate with external organizations and agencies to enhance rehabilitation services for veterans.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
  • Full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
