The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout all clinical and other Veterans care areas involved with the FHCC Neurology Section. This position reports directly to the FHCC Neurology Leadership of the parent facility, Richmond VA Medical Center to ensure collaboration and alignment for goals of Central Virginia VA Health Care System.
Duties include but not limited to the following:
Assessment and evaluation of sleep disorders using a combination of clinical evaluation and physiologic testing.
Treatment of Veterans with sleep disorders with medications and other modalities such as CPAP, BiPAP, oral appliances, position education, referral for maxillofacial and upper airway surgery, etc.
Recognition of medical, neurologic, and psychiatric disorders displaying symptoms likely to be related to sleep disorder.
Supervision of medical instrument technicians.
Provide teaching for internal medicine residents, medical students, etc. as assigned.
Ability to function within a large complex organization that requires cooperation with multiple services, including community care, prosthetics service, medical administrative, medical records, group medical practices, etc.
