Position Overview:

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to provide specialized Veterinary Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Services that support safe, accurate, and effective delivery of radiation therapy. Qualification:

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Masters or PhD in Medical Physics, Health Physics, or a related field.
    • Demonstrated experience working with linear acceleratorspreferably the Varian EDGE platform.
    • Proficiency with AAPM QA standards TG-142 and TG-51.
    • Experience in radiation oncology (veterinary or human).
    • Ability to perform both remote and on-site clinical and QA responsibilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Board certification (ABR/ABMP) in Medical Physics.
    • Experience with radiosurgery/SRS/SBRT programs.
    • Experience supporting regulatory inspections and documentation.
  • Soft Skills: Analytical precision, remote collaboration, technical mentoring

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance (QA) & Calibration:

  • Perform routine Physics QA for the Varian EDGE Radiosurgery System (with 6DOF couch) and Siemens Somatom Confidence 64-slice CT Simulator with moveable LAP lasers, maintaining compliance with AAPM TG-142 and AAPM TG-51 guidelines.
  • Conduct required annual QA, including annual reference dosimetry calibration and SRS/SBRT-specific testing.
  • Perform QA through a combination of remote system log review, automated daily/weekly QA verification, and periodic on-site visits.

Regulatory Compliance Support:

  • Collaborate with the Institutional Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with Virginia State Regulatory Requirements, including:
    • Annual state inspection survey of LINAC and IGRT X-ray systems.
    • Preparation and submission of required regulatory documentation.

Clinical Physics Support:

  • Provide physics support for approximately 150 veterinary radiation oncology cases per year, including:
  • Review of treatment plans and QA charts prior to administration.
  • Remote chart/imaging spot checks and ongoing treatment oversight.
  • Availability for clinical dosimetry questions, machine troubleshooting, and general physics support.
  • On-site support for new procedures or treatment techniques with prior notice.
