Locum - NP/PA - Emergency Medicine Lansing, MI
Join a dynamic and reputable emergency department team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Emergency Medicine at McLaren Greater Lansing. This vital role offers an excellent opportunity to provide essential care in a fast-paced, Level 3 Emergency Department serving over 40,000 annual visits, with a focus on fast track patient management. In this role, you will independently manage a busy fast track 'VUE' area within the ED, overseeing approximately 110 patients per day in a 10-bed space. The shift runs from 11 am to 11 pm, seven days a week, with the potential to work multiple assignments starting January 1, 2026. You will operate primarily without supervision on cases managed by attending physicians or residents, who handle more complex cases.
Required Skills:
- Valid NP or PA license and current Board Certification in Emergency Medicine
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency medicine experience
- Strong autonomy and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR system
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have Skills: - Experience with pediatric cases and transfers
- Prior exposure to Level 3 ED settings
- Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations
Preferred Education and Experience: - Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
- Prior locum or emergency medicine experience in a similar setting
- Familiarity with hospital protocols for transfers and admissions
Other Requirements: - Immunization records including Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Flu, Covid, TB, and TDAP
- Use of DocTime for clock-in/out procedures
- Must reside in or be willing to work in Lansing, MI area during assignments
