Forrest General Hospital (FGH)l, Hattiesburg, MS, Level II Trauma Center is seeking a Trauma Surgeon to replace a retiring physician.
We are a Level II Adult Trauma Center and Secondary Pediatric Trauma Center. We have a 19-county service area in Southeast Mississippi.
- The Emergency Department at Forrest General has a total of 56 beds.
- Forrest General Hospital operates a follow-up outpatient trauma clinic with 10 exam rooms. The trauma clinic is shared with hospital employed orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons.

- Private in-house call suite for use while on call
Position Overview:
The typical work schedule includes coverage for 15 to 18 days/month. When working on days, half of the scheduled shifts are 12-hour trauma call shifts and half are rounding/OR duty (short day).
The schedule is managed internally by the surgeons group and requests for time off are accommodated.
- Surgical Cases: 1-2
- Trauma Activations: Average 4-6 trauma activations per 24/hours
- Work Week: Average 3-4 days per week.
- Weekend coverage: Average 1 weekend per 3. Weekend duty is 12-hour shifts (7-7, either days or nights).
- Salary with quarterly bonus for meeting quality metrics. No RVUs.
