General Pathologist - Surgical Pathologist (M89427)

Department Summary: The Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is seeking a Full-time Assistant or Associate Professor (commensurate with experience) with expertise in Surgical Pathology.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clinical: Day-to-day sign-out of cases in academic surgical pathology subspecialty services. The surgical pathology service encounters a wide variety of neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions.
- Service: Participation in tumor boards and other conferences with clinical colleagues is required. Participation in departmental, institutional, and national committees when necessary.
- Teaching: Participation in the educational activities of Anatomic Pathology: (1) didactic presentations, rounds, and seminars involving residents, medical and graduate students, and dental and allied health students; (2) continuing education for faculty, nurses, allied health personnel, and community physicians; and (3) development of workshops at the local, state, and national level.
- Research: Scholarship primarily in Pathology through presentations at national meetings, developing clinical research collaborations, contributions to peer-reviewed scientific literature, and active participation in appropriate professional organizations is required.
- The faculty member will report to and work closely with the Division Chief to further the mission and vision of the Department of Pathology.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree
- Board eligibility or Board certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology.
- A scholarly record of publication in books and peer-reviewed journals, and presentations at national meetings
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
