The Robert J Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking a full-time physician to serve as Emergency Medicine Service Chief. The Chief has the responsibility for the successful planning, directing and coordination of medical services provided in the Emergency Department of the RJ Dole VAMC and is accountable and responsible to the Chief of Staff.
The duties and responsibilities of the Emergency Care Service Chief include, but are not limited to, the following:
- This position is primarily clinical in nature, and may work work up to 75% clinical depending on staffing needs of the department.
- The Chief of the Emergency Department will recruit, retain and maintain well qualified Emergency Department, Employee Health, Midlevel providers and Occupational Health physicians.
- Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage, and serving as Emergency Department, Employee Health and Occupational Health liaison with hospital administration and medical staff.
- Will have primary responsibility for the Emergency Department, Employee Health, and Occupational Health mid-level providers.
- Must demonstrate leadership skills and a high degree of personal and professional skills, interpersonal relations, critical thinking, and problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Will provide primary managerial and supervisory direction of the Emergency Department, Employee Health, and Occupational Health.
- Will provide strategic management of the service, including personnel management and requests for additional resources and lead in developing the annual strategic plan for the Emergency Department, Employee Health, and Occupational Health.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Friday, may vary subject to overall ED staffing
