Liberty Hospital, now part of The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Breast Surgical Oncologist to join our expanding multidisciplinary breast program. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a high -quality community environment while remaining fully integrated with an NCI-Designated Cancer Center and the academic resources of a leading tertiary care health system.

About the Position

This hybrid position is ideal for a breast surgeon who values community-based patient care supported by the depth, infrastructure, and collegiality of a nationally recognized academic cancer center.
You will practice primarily at a satellite hospital within the health system, delivering compassionate, high-quality care close to where patients live while maintaining access to:

  • The KU Cancer Centers NCI?Designated Cancer Center resources, including robust clinical trial availability
  • A metropolitan tertiary care network that ensures streamlined referrals and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • A dedicated Breast Surgical Oncology practice, including call rotation integrated with a supportive surgical team
  • Outstanding compensation and benefits aligned with systemwide standards

 

Required Qualifications:

  • MD, DO or equivalent
  • Board Eligible/ Board Certified in General Surgery
  • Completion of a specialized fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship or Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship with a breast emphasis
  • Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri

The satellite practice is fully connected to the systems comprehensive breast cancer program, ensuring your patients benefit from:

  • Breast focused breast radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and APPs
  • Accredited Lymphedema Center of Excellence with comprehensive prevention and treatment programs
  • Breast?specific nurse navigators for streamlined patient?centered care coordination
  • Broad reconstructive options via microvascular plastic surgeons skilled in free?flap and lymphatic procedures
  • Systemwide programs including survivorship, high?risk prevention, and multidisciplinary case conferences (weekly and monthly)

You will have access to the same tumor boards, clinical pathways, and specialty resources as surgeons practicing at the main academic campus.
