Nurse Practitioner - Cardiothoracic Surgery

Job Summary

The Phoenixville Hospital is seeking a Full Time Surgical Physician Assist to join our CT Surgery team. The General Cardiothoracic Surgical Advanced Practitioner works with the Cardiothoracic Surgeons and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals in coordinating and delivering patient care in a limited, non-cardiac surgical arena of the cardiothoracic surgery service. Facilitates communication between the patient and family, various hospital departments, the Nursing Service and the Medical Staff; function as a clinical expert in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Program and will practice to the fullest extent permitted under all current state and federal laws, and according to approved policies.

This position will provide in-office support. We are looking for a Physician Assistant who does Consults and rounding, direct admissions, and discharges, runs ICU and covers floor coverage during the day. The PA will also assist surgeons with pre operative work, consults and communications with the patients , prescribe and order pre and post operative diagnostic studies, performs H&Ps as well as possesses the advanced knowledge in hemodynamic management of ventilators, ventricular assist devices, the pharmacological effects of vasoactive cardiotonic drugs, and adult critical care in order to function at the highest level of autonomy within limits of advance practice licensure.

Position responsibilities:

• This is a in-office support Position
• Procedures expected to perform in the practice setting: Pacing Wire Removal, Chest Tube Removal, Wound VAC changes, Wound Care, direct admits to hospital, post op care. Surgical assistance in OR, Vein Harvesting, and other surgical procedures

• Post op cases, emergency patients and consults

*All applicants must be certified, with an active Professional Pennsylvania license (PA).

BLS and ACLS must be current.
