Physician Assistant - Pulmonary, Sleep & Lung Cancer Program

Sinai Health System is hiring a highly motivated Physician Assistant for a unique Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine position with a strong focus on lung cancer screening and care coordination. This role is ideal for a PA who is detail?oriented, action?driven, and eager to take ownership of clinical programs that have an immediate and lasting impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Sleep Medicine (~40%)

  • Manage follow-up care for established sleep patients.
  • Evaluate and treat new patients with uncomplicated obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Provide efficient, high-quality care in a structured, protocol-driven environment.

Lung Cancer Program - Core Clinical Role (~40%)

  • Serve as the point clinician for lung cancer screening and care coordination.
  • Receive and manage lung cancer screening referrals.
  • Order, review, track, and communicate screening and diagnostic results.
  • Coordinate care with patients, families, primary care providers, and specialists.
  • Present abnormal findings to tumor boards or pulmonary nodule conferences.
  • Manage acute patient concerns and appropriate diagnostic follow-up.
  • Order tests, procedures, and specialty consults as indicated.
  • Handle insurance-related requirements including prior authorizations and peer-to-peer discussions.
  • Maintain a patient tracking system to ensure timely follow-up and continuity of care.

Pulmonary Clinic Support (~10%)

  • Assist with routine pulmonary patient management.
  • Support clinic efficiency through medication refills, patient calls, and care coordination.
  • Help reduce physician administrative burden through APP-led workflow support.

Education & Professional Development (~10%)

  • Attend and participate in Pulmonary Fellowship educational conferences.
  • Support educational initiatives through literature review, conference organization, and learning material development.
  • Engage in a culture of collaborative learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Certified or eligible for NCCPA certification
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Illinois
  • Prior experience in pulmonary, sleep, oncology, or internal medicine preferred (but not required)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
