Locum - Physician - General Medicine Houston, TX

In this position, you will perform comprehensive general medicine assessments, focusing on non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. Your expertise will contribute to vital veteran services, ensuring they receive the care and evaluation they deserve. This role is ideal for physicians with a clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine fields who thrive in an interview-based assessment environment with minimal physical examination.
Required Skills:
- Licensed Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, or internal medicine
- Strong clinical assessment skills, including interview-based evaluations and basic physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
- Ability to work independently and complete examinations efficiently
- Excellent documentation and report submission skills
Nice to Have Skills: - Prior experience conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or veteran health assessments
- Familiarity with military or veteran healthcare systems
- Certification in medical evaluation or relevant specialties
Preferred Education and Experience: - MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years clinical practice in general medicine or related fields
- Experience in performing compensation and pension evaluations is advantageous but not mandatory
Other Requirements: - Own office within 50 miles of Houston, TX for independent exam setting; or willingness to perform exams at a VES facility if within proximity
- Ability to commit to PRN schedule starting April 9, 2026, with flexibility for ½ or full-day shifts
- No travel reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to engagement
- Commitment to providing high-quality assessments in a professional and timely manner
Compensation for this role is highly competitive, with a flat rate of $624 per hour.
