We are seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join a specialized behavioral health hospital in the Richmond, Virginia area. This role offers a collaborative, physician-supported environment with manageable patient volumes, allowing you to focus on high-quality inpatient psychiatric care while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Quick Facts
- Employment Type: Full-Time employed (Independent Contractor option available)
Schedule / Hours: 40 hours per week
Call: 1:4 weekends
Patient Volume: 15 18 patients per day
Location: Petersburg, VA (Richmond metro area)
Practice Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital (Acute, Partial Hospitalization and Residential treatment)
Support / Care Team: Psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, and case managers
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric care to adult and adolescent behavioral health patients
Collaborate closely with psychiatrists and interdisciplinary care teams
Perform psychiatric evaluations, and ongoing assessments
Conduct medication management and med-checks
Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Communicate with families regarding care and treatment updates
Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention
Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and physician orders.
Participate in utilization reviews and discharge planning

Qualifications
- Master s or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program
Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) (ANCC)
Active or eligible Virginia NP/APRN license
Current DEA certification
