Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Gastroenterologist High Risk GI Cancer Specialist.

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist with expertise or a strong clinical focus in high-risk gastrointestinal cancers to join a growing, multidisciplinary digestive health and oncology program. This is an exceptional opportunity to build and expand a specialized program dedicated to cancer prevention, early detection, and surveillance.

Position Highlights:

• Focus on high-risk populations (hereditary GI cancer syndromes, Barrett’s esophagus, pancreatic cysts, IBD-related dysplasia, etc.)

• Opportunity to develop a high-risk GI cancer and surveillance program

• Close collaboration with oncology, surgery, genetics, radiology, and pathology specialists

• Access to advanced diagnostics and endoscopic technologies (EUS, EMR, ESD, chromoendoscopy)

• Rush’s partnership with MD Anderson one of the nation’s leading cancer centers allows access to advanced treatments and research.

• Clinical location at Rush University Medical Center with some clinical support at Rush Oak Park Hospital

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and manage patients at increased risk for GI malignancies

• Develop and lead surveillance protocols and care pathways for high-risk populations

• Perform advanced endoscopic procedures for detection and management of premalignant and early malignant lesions

• Collaborate with genetics and oncology teams on personalized risk assessment and care planning

• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and case conferences

• Contribute to program growth, quality improvement, and clinical innovation initiatives

• Involvement in research, clinical trials, and teaching

• Participate in marketing, professional activities and clinical trials in collaboration with MD Anderson and the Rush Cancer Center

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with completion of Gastroenterology fellowship

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology

• Advanced training or demonstrated expertise in GI oncology, advanced endoscopy, or high-risk cancer surveillance preferred

• A minimum of 5 years of Clinical experience is required for this role

• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Illinois

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, knowledge and skills; relevant experience and training; education, certifications, and licensure; primary work location; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role, as well as additional compensation such as sign-on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances. Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding productivity targets. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.

Pay Range: $400,000 - $587,000
