Position Overview

Serve patients in moments that matter and be part of the future of healthcare. SCP Health is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Emergency Department at Saint Anthonys Health Center in Alton.

This opportunity offers the ability to practice high-quality emergency medicine in a well-supported, remodeled Emergency Department, with strong specialty capabilities, advanced monitoring technology, and a collaborative, physician-led clinical environment.


Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $100 per hour
  • Full-time, Part-time or PRN status

Clinical & Program Details

  • Patient Volume: 25,000 ED visits annually
  • ED Size: 16-bed, remodeled Emergency Department
  • Acuity: Moderate
  • Coverage Model:
    • 24-hour physician coverage (7 AM-7 PM / 7 PM-7 AM)
    • 12 hours of NP/PA coverage daily, 10 AM - 10 PM M-F, 11 am - 9 pm weekends
  • Specialties: Emergency Medicine
  • Pediatrics: State of Illinois-approved pediatric Emergency Department
  • Stroke Care: Certified Stroke Center (The Joint Commission)
  • Monitoring: New telemetry monitoring throughout the ED
  • EMR: EPIC
  • Procedures: Full-scope emergency procedures within NP/PA scope of practice
  • ICU: Available
  • Admissions/Transfers: Supported by inpatient services and regional resources

Advanced Practice Providers work collaboratively with Emergency Medicine physicians to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care in a community hospital setting.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

Certification & Licensure

  • Current Illinois NP or PA license (or ability to obtain)
  • NCCPA certification (PA-C) for Physician Assistants
  • ANCC or AANP certification for Nurse Practitioners
  • Illinois Controlled Substance License (if applicable)
  • Federal DEA registration (or ability to obtain)

Required Clinical Experience

  • Prior Emergency Department experience preferred
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills appropriate for a community ED setting
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and emergent conditions

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
