Position Overview:
- Location: Spartanburg, SC – nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, offering a perfect blend of career development and vibrant community living.
- Type: Full-time, permanent
- Residency Requirement: Candidate must reside within the immediate local area; relocation assistance available.
- Eligibility: Open to candidates completing Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship training and eligible for board certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver comprehensive, high-quality neonatal care in a well-equipped 35-bed Level III NICU.
- Manage a high-acuity, complex neonatal patient population with an average daily census of 25-29 infants.
- Support approximately 370-400 NICU admissions annually, alongside 3,400-3,900 deliveries.
- Perform advanced neonatal procedures including high-frequency ventilation, therapeutic hypothermia, and other lifesaving interventions.
- Participate in well-baby rounding twice a month, collaborating closely with the Family Medicine Residency Program.
- Work within a dedicated team of four Neonatologists with rotating on-call service, sharing a consistent, balanced schedule.
- Engage in a structured, every-other-night call system during service weeks.
- Collaborate seamlessly with 24/7 Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) coverage to ensure continuous, high-quality patient care.
- Partner with pediatric subspecialists such as cardiology, pediatrics surgery, ophthalmology, and MFM specialists to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Provide family-centered neonatal services within a community-focused healthcare system that values professional excellence and compassionate care.
- Lead in a clinical environment supported by strong academic and regional referral resources.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatology.
- Current (or eligible) medical license in South Carolina.
- Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff privileges.
