The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a dedicated and highly qualified Hospitalist OB/GYN physician to provide comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care. The Hospitalist will provide coverage for Labor and Delivery, inpatient OB/GYN services, and emergency department consultations while working collaboratively with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. The position includes supervision and teaching of resident physicians in a hospital-based academic environment.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of practice.
- Current DEA registration and certifications as required by the institution.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, quality improvement, and resident education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care during assigned hospital shifts.
- Manage and oversee patients admitted to Labor and Delivery.
- Evaluate and manage patients on the OB/GYN inpatient service.
- Respond to and perform consultations for obstetric and gynecologic patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Perform deliveries, obstetric procedures, and urgent/emergent gynecologic procedures as clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with private attending physicians and consulting specialists to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide clinical teaching to OB/GYN resident physicians.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences.
- Ensure timely documentation of patient encounters, procedures, and consultations in the electronic medical record.
- Adhere to departmental policies, quality standards, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with quality improvement and patient safety activities as assigned.
Schedule
- Three (3) twelve-hour hospital shifts per week.
- Coverage includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Total commitment of approximately 36 clinical hours per week.

Reporting Relationship
The Hospitalist OB/GYN reports to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
