UK HealthCare and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine are seeking fellowship-trained Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians to join the faculty at Kentucky Children’s Hospital — a growing, Level I academic medical center and the tertiary/quaternary pediatric referral center for Kentucky and surrounding states.
Position Highlights
- Academic faculty appointment with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine — approximately 90% clinical and 10% academic, with a dual appointment in the Departments of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine.
- High-acuity, full-service pediatric ED seeing roughly 32,000 pediatric emergency visits per year at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
- Major expansion underway — the current 21-room / 13-treatment-space department is growing to approximately 50 treatment spaces by 2029, within a 205-bed freestanding children’s hospital.
- Predictable shift-based schedule averaging 118 clinical hours per month, with dedicated charting time and no traditional call.
- Strong team support — a group of 7 physicians with two dedicated APPs scheduled daily, plus 24/7 pediatric specialty backup and consultation services.
- Teaching and research built in — work with medical students, residents, and fellows, with supported research and committee opportunities and a large pediatric referral network.
- Epic EMR across the health system.

Requirements
- MD or DO who is fellowship-trained in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or Emergency Medicine – Pediatrics.
- Eligible for Kentucky medical licensure and able to live within reasonable commuting distance of the practice.
