Job Summary and Responsibilities
As the Department Chair of Core Clinical Specialtiesat Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, you will lead the organization, oversight, and delivery of clinical care within Core Clinical Specialties serving hospital based services such as Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, Radiology, Emergency, Anesthesia and Pathology in the Puget Sound market of CommonSpirit's NW Region.
Every day you provide responsibility for establishing the Departments vision, objectives, and initiatives in strict accordance with the health systems overarching strategy. This individual will advocate for departmental requirements while ensuring congruence with the broader strategic priorities of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH). In collaboration with the administrative executive, the Chair will implement robust provider alignment strategies, manage fiscal budgets, and safeguard financial sustainability. Furthermore, the selected candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Departments operational metrics, integrating methodologies to advance clinical programs and optimize both clinical results.
To be successfulin this role, you will facilitate multidisciplinary cooperation across divisions to foster excellence in clinical practice, education, and research. Finally, this position serves as the primary representative for the Department of communications with CommonSpirit and VMFH executive leadership, hospital administration, service line directors, and external partner organizations.

Required:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
Board certification or eligibility in Pathology, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Anesthesiology or Emergency Medicine
Active or eligible license in the state of Washington
Strong clinical skills with experience in programmaticdevelopment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
