- Provide inpatient obstetrics coverage, including routine and complicated deliveries
- Perform vaginal deliveries, low-forceps deliveries, and assist with C-section decisions
- Manage deliveries involving breech, multiple births, or abruptions
- Support VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) cases
- Repair third and fourth-degree perineal lacerations
- Coordinate with midwives on-call for deliveries and patient care
- Document effectively via EPIC EMR system
- Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure quality patient care
- Manage approximately 1-6 patients per day in a hospital-based setting
Required:
- Kentucky medical license and DEA certification
- OB/GYN board certification or eligibility
- Minimum of 2 years of obstetrics experience
- Proficiency in EPIC EMR
- Ability to work 24-hour in-house call shifts
Preferred:
- experience with labor and delivery procedures
- familiarity with Level II nursery operations
This assignment is based at a leading hospital in Paducah, KY, with a level II nursery and approximately 700-800 deliveries annually. The service primarily involves inpatient obstetric care, including delivery and postpartum management. Midwives handle their own call and deliveries. The facility offers onsite labs and ultrasound, ensuring comprehensive support for providers.
