Cone Health is seeking an experienced, Board Certified Rheumatologist to serve as Regional Rheumatology Medical Director in Greensboro, North Carolina.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished rheumatologist ready to combine clinical practice with meaningful physician leadership. The Regional Rheumatology Medical Director will provide clinical leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for rheumatology services across Cone Health, helping guide the continued growth, quality, and development of the service line.

The position combines an established outpatient Rheumatology practice with protected administrative time for leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to remain clinically active while helping shape the future of rheumatologic care within a leading integrated health system.

Leadership Opportunity

As Regional Rheumatology Medical Director, you will work collaboratively with physician, clinical, and administrative leaders to advance Rheumatology services across Cone Health.

Key areas of focus include:

• Providing clinical leadership and strategic direction for Rheumatology services
• Supporting operational excellence and continued service-line growth
• Promoting consistent, high-quality, evidence-based patient care
• Partnering with physicians, APPs, and administrative leadership to strengthen clinical programs
• Supporting quality improvement and patient-centered care initiatives
• Helping foster physician and APP collaboration across the Rheumatology team
• Serving as a physician leader and resource for the Rheumatology service line
• Balancing leadership responsibilities with an active outpatient clinical practice
• 0.1 FTE protected administrative time for Medical Director responsibilities

Clinical Practice

The Medical Director will join an established and growing outpatient Rheumatology practice in Greensboro.

Practice highlights include:

• Established team of 3 Rheumatologists and 3 Advanced Practice Providers
• Full-time employed physician opportunity
• Outpatient Rheumatology practice
• Monday–Thursday: 7:45 AM–5:00 PM
• Friday: 7:45 AM–12:30 PM
• No weekday or weekend call
• Average outpatient volume of approximately 20 patients per day
• Collaborative multidisciplinary care model
• On-site X-ray and ultrasound
• Access to a comprehensive network of medical and surgical specialists throughout Cone Health

• $290,000 guaranteed base compensation

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Rheumatologist with demonstrated clinical excellence and an interest in physician leadership.

Qualifications include:

• MD or DO, or equivalent medical degree recognized by the North Carolina Medical Board
• Board Certified in Rheumatology
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship
• Eligible for unrestricted North Carolina medical licensure
• DEA registration or ability to obtain
• Prior clinical experience in Rheumatology
• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work effectively with physicians, APPs, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
• Demonstrated interest in clinical leadership, quality improvement, and program development
