Physician - Emergency Psychiatry

Are you a psychiatrist who enjoys the complexity of working at the intersection of psychiatry and medicine?

We are seeking an experienced Consultation-Liaison (C/L) Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric consultation to patients in hospital inpatient and Emergency Department settings through telehealth.

This is an opportunity to practice meaningful, collaborative psychiatry without the need to relocate. You will work closely with hospital-based medical teams, emergency physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical professionals to evaluate and manage patients with a wide range of psychiatric and behavioral health needs in medically complex settings.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will provide remote psychiatric consultation for patients in both the Emergency Department and medical/surgical inpatient settings.

Your clinical work may include evaluation and management of:

• Delirium and altered mental status
• Depression, anxiety, and mood disorders in medically ill patients
• Psychosis and behavioral disturbances
• Suicidal ideation and other safety concerns
• Substance use disorders and withdrawal-related psychiatric presentations
• Capacity and other psychiatric assessments
• Medication recommendations and psychopharmacologic management
• Psychiatric symptoms associated with complex medical illness
• Patients requiring psychiatric disposition recommendations

You will collaborate directly with onsite hospital teams to help integrate psychiatric care into the patient's overall medical treatment plan.

This is not a traditional outpatient telepsychiatry position. You will be providing real-time psychiatric consultation within the hospital environment, working with medically complex patients and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

The telehealth model allows you to focus on clinical care while eliminating the commute and providing flexibility around where you practice.

Schedule

We offer 10-hour shifts across multiple coverage options:

• Day shifts
• Mid-shifts
• Overnight shifts

Weekend coverage is required as part of the overall scheduling commitment.

The 10-hour shift structure provides the opportunity to build a predictable schedule while maintaining flexibility around preferred shift times.

Qualifications

We are seeking psychiatrists who have:

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
• Minimum of 2 years of post-residency clinical experience
• Board Certified in Psychiatry
• Active, unrestricted medical license(s) in applicable states
• Experience providing psychiatric care in a hospital, inpatient, Emergency Department, or Consultation-Liaison setting
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort managing medically complex patients
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Comfort practicing through telehealth technology

Consultation-Liaison fellowship training is preferred but not required.

We are particularly interested in psychiatrists with experience in inpatient C/L, Emergency Department psychiatry, medical-surgical consultation, hospital psychiatry, or a combination of these settings.
