Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner to join our AFC Urgent Care Clinic in Anderson, SC. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

As part of our urgent care team, you will manage a wide range of non-emergent illnesses and injuries while working alongside a supportive staff that includes medical assistants and front-office team members. Our urgent care clinics are open 7 days per week, 8a to 8p Monday – Friday, and 8a to 5p Saturday and Sunday. This consistent schedule provides stability and the opportunity to build strong connections with both patients and colleagues.

Urgent Care Scope of Services

  • Walk-in access to high-quality, non-emergency care
  • Occupational medicine services, including workers’ compensation, return-to-work evaluations, and pre-employment physicals
  • On-site diagnostics, including laboratory testing, X-rays, and EKGs
  • Seamless coordination with primary care and specialty providers
  • Support the Primary Care Virtualist Program during periods of available capacity as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for walk-in urgent care patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, and wound care.
  • Collaborate closely with medical assistants and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Educate patients and clearly communicate care plans and follow-up instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality, patient satisfaction, and continuous professional growth.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Current and unrestricted Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license.
  • Active DEA license 
  • A minimum of two years of independent FNP/PA experience
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Must be comfortable seeing up to 60 patients as sole clinic provider during peak cold and flu seasons.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 20% floating to other clinics as needed - mileage reimbursed over 30 miles.
  • DOT Certified or ability to obtain
  • BLS (minimum) or ability to obtain
  • Must be comfortable treating patients of all ages, including infants and geriatrics

Preferred:

  • Experience working as FNP/PA in Urgent care, emergency medicine, or family medicine.
  • Experience completing DOT physicals
  • Experience completing workers comp claims and return to work evaluations

Clinic Hours

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Full-time schedule example:
    • Week 1: M, Tu, Fr, Sa
    • Week 2: Sun, W, Th
  • Holiday Expectation: 
    • At minimum, one market clinic will be open on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day with normal hours. All other clinics (if open) will close at 5p. However, all providers, regardless of clinic, will be expected to provide rotational coverage.  
    • All clinics will have normal operating hours on New Years Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independency Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Eve.
