Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is seeking candidates for a faculty position in Pediatric Cardiology.  The individual will share in the patient care and teaching responsibilities with members in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. Leadership opportunities are available and applications from physician-scientists are also encouraged.

The Heart Center program at Oklahoma Childrens - OU Health is the only comprehensive pediatric heart center in the state of Oklahoma and has been recognized in US News and World Reports as one of the top 50 programs in the country for the last three consecutive years. The heart center has excellent subspecialty services including an advanced imaging center, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and heart failure and transplant. With 20 pediatric cardiologists and 12 advanced practice providers, center performs more than 500 surgical cases annually with excellent outcomes reported through the national STS database.

Annually, heart center providers complete around 20,000 outpatient encounters, 15,000 inpatient encounters, 15,000 echocardiograms, 700 MRI/CT scans, and around 500 interventional catheterizations and electrophysiology procedures.

A brand-new, seven-story pediatric heart center building adjacent to Oklahoma Childrens will be completed in fall of 2029. All pediatric cardiovascular services, including inpatient, outpatient, imaging and surgery, will be in the same space.

Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Attending

The Heart Center at Oklahoma Childrens OU Health is looking for an additional Heart Failure / Heart Transplant Attending at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join our team. Currently, the team has one full-time attending, one CICU attending with heart failure / heart transplant training, three Advanced Practice Providers, one nurse program manager, a dedicated, full-time social worker with counseling certification, and dedicated pharmacy and dietary support. The candidate should be board certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Cardiology and should have completed a fourth year in heart failure and transplant at the time of starting this position. The candidate would spend most of the time on heart failure and transplant, but there is flexibility for candidates to design their preferred balance between heart failure and heart transplant and other Cardiology duties.
