Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Campus and Oklahoma Childrens OU Health is seeking candidates for a faculty position in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The applicant should be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric critical care with significant experience or additional training in cardiac critical care or be board-certified or board-eligible in pediatric cardiology with additional training in pediatric critical care.

Our providers participate in clinical teaching of critical care fellows, pediatric residents and medical students, and they support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to patient care, research, and trainee education. Formal educational opportunities in the college of medicine are available for interested faculty. The applicant will have a faculty title in the College of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma and work clinically at Oklahoma Childrens OU Health.

Qualified candidates will join a high-performing team consisting of physicians and advanced practice providers, with a reputation for excellent outcomes and quality-driven care. The cardiac surgery team performs 500 surgical cases a year with 275 pump cases. In addition, they do almost 500 interventional and electrophysiology procedures per year.

The Heart Center at Oklahoma Childrens is expanding to a new $320 million dollar free-standing pediatric heart care facility. Incoming physicians will have the unique opportunity to be part of the growth of Oklahomas only advanced, comprehensive pediatric cardiac program. Our current 25-bed CICU will expand to 32-bed post-operative CICU with an additional 32 beds for a neonatal CICU and medical CICU in late 2029 with the opening of the new heart center. The CICU provides a full spectrum of pediatric cardiac intensive care, including ventricular assist devices, ECMO and pediatric heart transplant.

The Department of Pediatrics is a multi-faceted department with 18 divisions and more than 240 faculty members. The faculty constitutes the principal medical staff of Oklahoma Childrens at OU Health.
