Opportunity Details

  • Position Type: Full-Time or Part-Time (20-40 hours/week)
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
  • Location: Bloomfield Hills, MI then transition to remote work.
  • Specialty: Inboxologist   

Requirements

  • Experience managing provider in basket/inbox messages in an ambulatory or outpatient setting preferred.
  • Ability to review and respond to patient portal messages in a timely manner.
  • Experience handling patient phone calls and documenting communications accurately.
  • Knowledge of prescription refill processes and medication-related requests.
  • Ability to review laboratory and diagnostic results and route information appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfort working independently while collaborating with physicians and clinical staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high volume of inbox messages.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

  • Manage physician inbasket messages and ensure timely follow-up on patient requests.
  • Review and respond to patient portal messages according to established protocols.
  • Handle incoming patient phone calls and address routine clinical concerns.
  • Process prescription refill requests and communicate with pharmacies as needed.
  • Review laboratory and diagnostic test results and route them to the appropriate provider.
  • Document patient interactions and actions taken within the electronic medical record.
  • Coordinate follow-up care and communicate recommendations to patients.
  • Assist with scheduling video visits when appropriate for patient concerns.
  • Escalate urgent or complex clinical matters to the supervising physician.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and office staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Support efficient patient communication and help improve access to care through inbox management.
