Physician Assistant - Surgery

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant – General Surgery/Robotics to join our team in providing high-quality, Veteran-centered surgical care. The PA will work directly for the Assistant Chief of Surgery located at the Lee County Healthcare Center (LCHCC) in Cape Coral, Florida.

Responsibilities: 

• Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care.
• Assist surgeons in the OR, including robotic surgery/da Vinci procedures.
• Perform preoperative H&Ps, surgical evaluations, and routine minor procedures.
• Manage postoperative rounds, orders, discharge planning, medications, and follow-up.
• Evaluate and triage surgical consults and clinical questions.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, surgical clearances, and multidisciplinary care.
• Review diagnostic results and communicate findings and treatment plans to patients and surgeons.
• Participate in surgical meetings, including Morbidity & Mortality conferences.

Ideal Candidate: PA with strong hospital-based surgical and OR experience. General Surgery, Acute Care, Colorectal, Bariatric, First Assistant, and robotic surgery experience preferred.
