Physician - Hospitalist

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide quality medical care consistent with community standards and in conformity with the requirements of the medical staff bylaws and rules and regulations in the area of Internal Medicine/Hospitalist to patients seeking care at hospital and maintain active medical staff membership at hospital;
• Provide Hospitalist call coverage to Hospital emergency department in accordance with the Hospitalist Call Group Schedule;
• Respond when requested to emergent, or on call situations in time frames outlined in the medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, Internal Medicine/Hospitalist protocol and job description;
• Provide utilization review, peer review, quality assurance, patient care assessment, risk management, and program evaluation services as needed by hospital;
• Serve on committees as mutually agreed to by hospital and physician;
• Assist hospital in meeting standards of The Joint Commission, CMS and all other regulatory agencies;
• Assist hospital in meeting the requirements of applicable state and Federal laws;
• Develop and/or present continuing education program(s) as requested to physicians, allied health professions and staff of hospital;
• Act as liaison between specialty area and hospital;
• Advise and consult on specific patients and make specialized knowledge and skills available to other practitioners as appropriate;
• Engage in community outreach and public relations activities; and,
• Physician is responsible for training the medical students throughout the term of the clinical training program, including didactic classroom lectures, and clinical rotations as needed.
• Employee will manage and coordinate care for admitted patients (ages 18+) throughout a hospital stay. As part of such care, employee can perform medical procedures when needed (including but not limited to the following bedside procedures: central venous access, thoracentesis, abdominal paracentesis, and lumbar punctures), design treatment plans, and communicate and coordinate with patients, hospital staff, the patients primary care physician and/or specialists, among other duties

P-100-Qualifications and Experience:

• At start date, must:
• (1) Be board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine;
• (2) Be eligible for state and federal drug licenses; and,

(3) Be eligible for state medical licenseLocation:

• This is a full-time position located in Rolla, Missouri.
