Practice Overview & Opportunity Highlights

Covenant Medical Group is seeking a Board Certified or actively Board Eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join our premier, highly respected musculoskeletal team in Saginaw, Michigan. This opportunity is tailored for a broad generalist who enjoys fracture care, joint procedures, and general orthopedic cases, coupled with a component of basic sports medicine (e.g., knee/shoulder arthroscopy, ACL reconstructions, rotator cuff repairs) and an interest in community or athletic team coverage.

You will be joining an established, collaborative network of 23 providers across the region, stepping directly into an immediate patient base driven by practice growth, successor recruitment, and a structured senior practice transition.

  • Balanced Clinical Cadence: Enjoy a sustainable, customizable schedule typically featuring 2 to 3 clinic days and 2 to 3 OR days per week.
  • Turnkey Practice & High Demand: Immediate surgical volume alongside robust elective arthroscopy and soft-tissue cases.
  • State-of-the-Art Surgical Facilities: Inpatient surgical suites at the Covenant Main Campus feature dedicated orthopedic trauma and swing rooms, specialized radiolucent fracture tables, intraoperative fluoroscopy, and advanced arthroscopic video towers. Outpatient cases are performed at the nearby Mackinaw Surgery Center.
  • Premier Instrumentation & Support: Stryker is the preferred system for power equipment, arthroscopy towers, and joint/trauma consignment implants. Operating rooms are staffed exclusively by employed, experienced surgical circulators, scrub techs, and certified first-assist PAs.
  • Flexible Group Block Time: Operative block time is coordinated collaboratively, allowing surgeons to readily access open block time from colleagues on non-operating days.
  • Exceptional Practice Support: Fully integrated Epic EMR. Documentation is streamlined with practice-funded scribes provided at no overhead cost to the physician, as well as dictation options. Dedicated MAs handle rooming, casting, splinting, and dressing changes.
  • Team-Based APP Model: Supported by a network of 10+ Advanced Practice Providers. Personal APP support is assigned as volume expands, complemented by a dedicated inpatient APP rounding service during the week and a structured weekend APP rounding rotation.
  • Equitable ER Call Schedule: Low-burden emergency call of 3 to 5 call shifts per month (~48 days per year), taken from home with standard callback. Inpatients are primarily admitted through the Hospitalist/Trauma services, with orthopedics acting as the surgical consultant. Unassigned ER call shifts are compensated separately.

Exciting Growth: Brand-New $25 Million Orthopedics Facility

This is an exceptional time to join our program. Covenant HealthCare has broken ground on a new, $25 million, 25,700-square-foot state-of-the-art Orthopedics Facility on the Mackinaw Campus along Tittabawassee Road in Saginaw Township:

  • Comprehensive Under-One-Roof Care: Bringing together orthopedic surgeons, dedicated sports medicine physicians, surgical podiatrists, APPs, and Mary Free Bed Orthotics & Prosthetics.
  • Modern Outpatient Infrastructure: Designed with 44 exam rooms (allocating 3-4 dedicated rooms per surgeon on clinic days), 4 digital X-ray suites, 4 procedure rooms, 2 casting bays, and specialized diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Regional Landmark Innovation: Home to Covenant OrthoExpress, one of the regions only walk-in orthopedic urgent care centers, capturing acute community injuries and funneling surgical cases directly into the group.

(Candidates onboarding prior to late spring will start at our established Gratiot practice, transitioning smoothly into the new center.)
