Physician - Headache

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurology in the WVU School of Medicine are seeking an accomplished neurologist to serve as Chief of the Headache Division at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV, and report directly to the Chair of Neurology.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic, innovative physician leader to shape the future of headache medicine at WVU. The Chief will:

• Lead the clinical, educational, research, and scholarly missions of the Headache Division
• Develop and expand innovative, multidisciplinary headache programs
• Oversee the division’s administrative and financial operations
• Foster collaboration across the WVU Health System and with multidisciplinary partners
• Advance education and mentorship of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty
• Expand clinical research and scholarly initiatives

About the WVU Headache Center

The WVU Headache Center is West Virginia’s only comprehensive headache program and is recognized for pioneering approaches to headache treatment. The Center includes three fellowship-trained, certified headache specialists and participates in multiple multicenter clinical trials evaluating emerging therapies.

Our multidisciplinary team collaborates with specialists in neurosurgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, psychiatry, pain medicine, and radiology. Patients benefit from comprehensive treatment options, including advanced medications, procedural interventions, behavioral and nutritional strategies, and state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies.

About the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) is a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary center for patient care, education, research, and innovation, with more than 300 physicians and scientists and over 300,000 patient visits annually. RNI advances neuroscience, brain health, and therapeutics through collaboration with academic, government, and industry partners.

The Department of Neurology provides comprehensive interdisciplinary care across stroke, movement disorders, brain injury, headache, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neuro-oncology, sleep medicine, neuromuscular disease, and neurodegenerative disorders. WVU is home to a Joint Commission-approved Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level IV Epilepsy Center.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or foreign equivalent
• Completion of neurology residency and headache medicine fellowship
• Board certified in headache neurology
• Eligible for West Virginia medical licensure
• All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment
