Covenant HealthCare is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Trauma / Critical Care Surgeon to join our growing, hospital-employed surgical group.
In this role, you will serve as the primary daytime Acute Care Surgeon to manage emergency general surgery (EGS) cases, ensuring rapid surgical intervention and protecting elective surgical schedules. Over time, this position will transition into a fully integrated, rotating hospital-based surgicalist practice alongside our trauma and critical care team, supporting full-spectrum surgical critical care, emergency needs, and shared call.
Acute Care & Emergency General Surgery: Act as the dedicated daytime Acute Care Surgeon to perform urgent and emergency general surgery cases, improving OR access and reducing delays in clinical decision-making.
Inpatient Rounding: Share daily responsibilities for rounding on trauma and surgical critical care patients to deliver high-quality, continuous care for complex, high-acuity cases.
On-Call Coverage: Take an equitable share of both trauma call (~8–10 calls/month) and elective general surgery call.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and surgical specialists to streamline ED boarding and keep complex inpatient care local.
Candidate Qualifications
Education: MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery with formal fellowship training/certification in Surgical Critical Care (or Trauma/Acute Care/Critical Care Surgery).
Licensure: Eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Michigan.
