Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Interventional Pain Management Physician to join a collaborative multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate is board-certified or board-eligible in Pain Medicine and committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care. This physician will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain using advanced interventional procedures, medication management, office-based procedures, monitored sedation when appropriate, and surgical procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center or similar surgical setting. The physician will also work closely with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) who support patient care, follow-up management, care coordination, and clinical operations, allowing the physician to focus on complex evaluations, procedures, and treatment planning. The role is focused on improving function, quality of life, and overall well-being through comprehensive and coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic pain conditions.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history review, physical examination, and diagnostic interpretation.
• Provide ongoing monitoring and refinement of treatment plans to optimize clinical outcomes.
• Deliver evidence-based interventional pain procedures in accordance with best practices and safety standards.
• Provide office-based procedures, sedation-supported interventions, and surgical pain procedures in an ambulatory surgery center setting as clinically appropriate.
• Collaborate with primary care, spine surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, neurology, physical therapy, behavioral health, and other specialists as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements related to pain management and controlled substances.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, peer review, and outcomes tracking.
• Work in a team-based environment designed to improve access, continuity of care, and clinical efficiency.
• Provide clinical leadership, collaboration, and oversight to assigned APPs and clinical staff as appropriate.
• APPs assist with patient follow-up visits, medication management, care coordination, patient education, and clinical documentation support.
• Join a practice model supported by experienced Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants).

• Spinal cord stimulation trials and implants
• Peripheral nerve stimulation procedures
• Basivertebral Nerve Ablation
• Fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures
• Kyphoplasty
• Minimally invasive lumbar decompression procedures
• SI joint fusion

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Neurology, or a related specialty.
• Completion of an accredited Pain Medicine fellowship.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pain Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted Utah medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
• DEA registration and authority to prescribe controlled substances.
• Demonstrated experience performing image-guided interventional pain procedures.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with advanced interventional procedures.
• Experience in outpatient pain management or ambulatory surgical setting.
• Fellowship training in interventional pain management.
• Working knowledge of value-based care, quality metrics, and patient outcome measurement.

• Expertise in fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided interventions.

• A patient-centered mindset with the ability to build trust with individuals experiencing chronic pain.
• Commitment to ethical prescribing and evidence-based care.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and fast-paced clinical environment.

Physical and Work Environment

• Ability to safely operate fluoroscopic and ultrasound equipment.
• Primarily outpatient clinic and procedure suite setting, with office-based procedures, monitored sedation capability, ambulatory surgery center privileges, and collaborative support from APPs and clinical staff.
• Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with limited call responsibilities depending on practice needs.
