Physician - Anesthesiology

The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking an experienced Anesthesiologist to provide comprehensive perioperative anesthesia services at the Lee County VA Healthcare Center in Cape Coral, Florida. This opportunity offers a diverse clinical practice encompassing surgical, procedural, and non-operating-room anesthesia in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Practice Highlights

• Provide comprehensive perioperative anesthetic care to patients across all ASA physical status classifications.
• Conduct preoperative assessments, including early anesthesia consultations and optimization as appropriate.
• Provide direct intraoperative anesthesia care, PACU management, and postoperative ward care when clinically indicated.
• Provide anesthesia for a variety of specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), podiatry, and gynecology.
• Perform regional anesthesia for outpatient procedures; fellowship training is not required.
• Provide non-operating-room anesthesia (NORA) for procedures including:
  • Gastroenterology – endoscopy and ERCP
  • Pulmonology – bronchoscopy
  • Cardiology – cardioversion
  • Mental Health – ECT
• Provide occasional acute pain management, including epidural blood patches and PCA consultations; fellowship training is not required.
• Provide expert support for out-of-OR airway management (OORAM) emergencies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, proceduralists, nursing, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Participate in ongoing quality improvement, program planning, and development of policies and standards that support safe, high-quality anesthetic care.
