Faculty Position Available: Ophthalmologist - Glaucoma Division (Open Rank)

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, University of Louisville School of Medicine, has an opening for a full-time tenure or term track faculty member in the departments Glaucoma Service. Applicants must have graduated from a fully-accredited ophthalmology residency program, have training in an approved Glaucoma fellowship program. Preference will be given to candidates that are certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Furthermore, candidates need to be eligible for licensure in the state of Kentucky. The successful candidate will have clinical and educational responsibilities in the department as well as with University of Louisville Physicians/UofL Health.

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is located in the University of Louisville Health - Eye Institute, on the campus of the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center. The University of Louisville Hospitals, University of Louisville outpatient facilities, Jewish Hospital, Frazier Rehab Institute, Norton Hospital, and Norton Childrens Hospital comprise the hospitals in the medical center complex. Our clinical faculty also operates at University of Louisville Medical Center East and Baptist Hospital East. The Glaucoma Service also provides care to patients in Elizabethtown, Kentucky and the surrounding area.

Physician provides assessment, management and outcome evaluation for patients outpatient settings. Educates patients, families and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Assesses the physical status of clients through interview, health history and physical examination and both inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Formulates treatment plans for health problems and follow-ups.
  • Writes prescriptions for medication, blood tests and routine diagnostic and follow-up studies and therapeutic measures.
  • Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
  • Shares clinical expertise with personnel.
  • Documents and reports care in an accurate and timely manner.

Other Functions:

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education:

  • Medical Doctorate degree

Experience:

  • Epic EMR experience is preferred.
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills

Licensure:

  • Physician license for state of Kentucky

Certification:

  • ACLS/BLS Certification
