Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care

Lake Regional Health System is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our ICU and hospitalist team. This position provides comprehensive care for hospitalized and critically ill patients in collaboration with our intensivists, hospitalists and multidisciplinary care team.

Schedule

• Night shifts, 7 p.m.-7 a.m.
• 15 shifts per month
• The position will begin on day shifts for the first 60-90 days, followed by a transition to nights.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients across the ICU and inpatient units.
• Complete patient assessments, develop treatment plans and coordinate ongoing care with supervising physicians.
• Manage acute and critical conditions, including sepsis, shock and acute respiratory failure.
• Perform procedures, including intubations and central and arterial line placements, within approved privileges.
• Participate in rapid responses and Code Blue events.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, respiratory therapists and other team members to support safe, coordinated care.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and involve the intensivist or other specialists as clinically appropriate.
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers.

Qualifications

• Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with specialized acute care training.
• Active Missouri professional license and applicable board certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Verification of inpatient care delivery for at least 30 cases within the past 12 months.
• Completion of 40 hours of related continuing medical education within the past two years.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care.

ATLS certification is highly recommended.
