Hospitalist

UVA Community Health is seeking a Hospitalist to admit and round on patients at both Prince William and Haymarket Medical Centers.  Schedule is blocked from 7am to 7pm.  ICUs are closed. Successful candidate will enjoy having a strong, multidisciplinary team of providers and ancillary services on site.   

Responsibilities:

1. Provide inpatient care from admission to discharge for patients of participating members of the Hospitals Medical Staff and for all unassigned patients admitted through the Hospitals Emergency Department
2. 0.18 FTE nighttime responsibilities (25-30 shifts)
3. Render appropriate treatment to each patient seeking medical treatment through the hospitalist program 
4. Make the pronouncement of death for hospitalized patients in those situations where the patients attending physician is not available
5. Respond to codes and other emergencies
6. Provide clinical consultations for the Behavioral Health Service, the Med/Surg Service, or other service lines so long as the consult is appropriate to the scope of a hospitalist
7. Provide consultations in response to any request by any physician in the Emergency Department or any physician for any inpatient need
8. Provide observation care, over-reads of EKGs, and perform other diagnostics tests
9. Participate in any of Employers or Hospitals quality assurance programs, in order to demonstrate that performance expectations have been satisfied
10. Perform other services as reasonably requested by Employer or UVA Inpatient Medicine Leadership
11. No call responsibilities
12. Average Daily Census for 1.0 FTE is 18
