The Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) are seeking a highly skilled Endocrinologist to join our exceptional team. This dual appointment position offers a unique opportunity to provide outstanding clinical care to veterans at the Baltimore VAMC and contribute to academic medicine at UMSOM. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities:

At the VA Maryland Health Care System (7/8ths FTE):

  • Provide comprehensive clinical care to veterans with endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid conditions, and metabolic diseases.
  • Manage inpatient and outpatient endocrinology consults.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and implement evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics related to endocrinology care.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating at the VAMHCS.
  • Participate in clinical research activities, with opportunities for collaboration and support from VAMHCS and UMSOM's resources.

At the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1/8th FTE):

  • Contribute to the academic mission through teaching, mentorship, and curriculum development for medical students and trainees.
  • Attend departmental and divisional meetings to contribute to the strategic goals of the endocrinology program.

Qualifications:

  • Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Board Certification/Eligibility: Board-certified or board-eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
  • Experience: Previous experience in clinical care, education, and/or research in endocrinology is highly desirable.
  • Additional Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
