Are you a dedicated Critical Care Physician seeking a flexible, impactful role in a thriving hospital setting? We are looking for an experienced Locum Physician to provide essential critical care coverage at Bon Secours Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality inpatient critical care services in an 18-bed Level 2 Trauma ICU, managing critically ill patients alongside a team of dedicated APCs and residents. Your expertise will help coordinate complex clinical cases, supervise resident physicians, and ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will work primarily on weekend shifts, including night and day calls, contributing to a comprehensive, team-oriented critical care service.

Key responsibilities include rounding on 18-24 ICU patients, performing invasive and non-invasive ventilation management, placing central and arterial lines, and conducting diagnostic/therapeutic procedures such as thoracentesis and lumbar puncture. You will oversee and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare providers, participate in teaching services for IM, FM, and EM residents, and support the hospital’s trauma and medical-surgical specialties.

Required Skills:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) and active medical license in Ohio
  • Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
  • Proven ICU management experience with invasive and non-invasive ventilation
  • Strong proficiency in central line, arterial line, and PA catheter insertions
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Weekend availability for scheduled shifts

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience in trauma, neuro, cardiac, or surgical ICU settings
  • Prior supervisory or teaching experience with residents
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR system
  • Advanced airway management skills

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Doctorate in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience post-fellowship
  • Prior locum or temporary staffing experience is advantageous

Other Requirements:
  • Availability for scheduled weekend shifts, including nights and days
  • Credentialing timeframe of approximately 60-90 days
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise healthcare team members
  • Travel reimbursement within specified limits ($150/night lodging; economy travel)
