The Cerebrovascular Center at the Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Director of Cerebrovascular Research to join our multi-disciplinary group in Northeast Ohio. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to advance understanding and treatment of cerebrovascular disorders within a leading academic and clinical environment.  The Cerebrovascular Center is one of the largest clinical programs in the country, with unlimited clinical-research potential, residing within a diverse, multidisciplinary academic Neurological Institute. We are seeking established Clinician Scientists with advanced training in Cerebrovascular Diseases, Stroke, or Neurocritical Care, and a passion for leading, mentoring, and grow externally funded investigator-initiated research, clinical trials, and health services research program of the Center. The Cerebrovascular Center is a multidisciplinary clinical, educational, and research department composed of the sections of stroke and vascular neurology, neurocritical care, cerebrovascular neurosurgery and endovascular surgical neuroradiology services within the Neurological Institute.  The Director of Cerebrovascular Research will have the support of a dedicated research supervisor, 5 research coordinators, biostatistical and clinical trial design support, and the patient base from 22 vascular neurologists, 10 neuro-intensivists, 10 neurointerventionalists and cerebrovascular neurosurgeons, and a health psychologist.  Our collaborative multi-disciplinary program is considered among the best in the world and is designated as Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Joint Commission.

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree. Candidate must have research experience in the field of cerebrovascular disease and possess a demonstrated record of successful external and independent research funding, mentorship, leadership, and a passion for advancing cerebrovascular clinical research and care. The successful candidate will develop and implement a strategic research vision, leveraging the extensive expertise and resources of Cleveland Clinic in collaboration with center and institute leadership. The Cerebrovascular center will be housed in a new state of the art 1 million square foot Neurological Institute Building schedule to open in 2027. Clinical growth is expected to occur with matched growth in research activities with strong support from the Neurological Institute Chair.

Opportunities exist to collaborate with world-class clinicians and leaders throughout the Neurological Institute which has almost 1,200 caregivers. In 2025, amongst clinical institutes within Cleveland Clinic, the Neurological Institute ranked #1 in Clinical Research Funding ($61M). Additional opportunities exist to collaborate with the faculty and medical students of Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine (the “College Program”) and Case Western Reserve University (the “University Program”); the basic and translational scientists of the Lerner Research Institute; the 9 Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals and several Family Health Centers in Northeast Ohio, as well as Cleveland Clinic Florida, Nevada, Toronto, Abu Dhabi and London.
