Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers, announces a search for a Pediatric Palliative Care physician to join our growing team allowing us to care for even more patients. This position provides the opportunity to work in a highly engaging and collaborative environment with the support and resources of the Children’s Institute to provide the best care for our pediatric and young adult patients.

 

The selected candidate will join a vibrant and growing program that currently includes 3 Pediatric Palliative Care physicians, 2 nurse practitioners, a nurse coordinator, and a dedicated social worker. Pediatric Palliative Care resides within the Department of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, and provides consultation at the Main Campus, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation, Fairview Hospital NICU, and Hillcrest Hospital NICU.

 

The candidate would join a team who collaborates with multiple subspecialists encompassing prenatal care and neonatology, hematology-oncology, cardiology, critical care medicine, and children with medical complexities. Consultation occurs at Main Campus in the inpatient and outpatient settings, and at outside hospitals housing neonatal and pediatric patients.  There is also collaboration with outside home hospice agencies who provide ongoing care to our patients along the trajectory of their chronic illnesses. Education and training of adult palliative medicine fellows, other pediatric subspecialty fellows, pediatric residents, and medical students are a priority.  A commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration, high quality pediatric palliative care, and outstanding communication skills are essential. 

The candidate should be at the Assistant, Associate, or equivalent level with strong clinical interests in palliative care.  There is an opportunity for research in this area. The candidate must be board-certified/board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments is expected at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
