The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology within the Neurological Institute (NI) at Cleveland Clinic has an immediate need to recruit full-time inpatient Geriatric Psychiatrists in  Northeast Ohio (NEO).  Board-certified or board  eligibility for the Geropsychiatry subspecialty is required. Niche outpatient work with various centers in the Neurological Institute, such as Parkinson’s Disease, Dementias, Stroke, TBI, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will be offered. Teaching opportunities exist with our medical students, psychiatry and neurology residents, and advanced CL and BNNP fellows.

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychology is a growing department with a team of 137 behavioral health providers, including more than 57 psychiatrists, servicing the needs of NEO with comprehensive outpatient, consultation liaison, intensive outpatient program, and inpatient psychiatry resources. Out of our 200 inpatient psychiatry beds, we have designated 50 geropsychiatry units at our Lutheran and Marymount hospitals.

We have a growing Psychiatric Treatment Resistant Program, with advanced therapies such as TMS, DBS, Ketamine, and psychedelics, coupled with the largest ECT program in NEO. Research opportunities are available within the various centers of the Neurological Institute. These include NIH funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Dementia with Lewy Bodies Consortium, Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence, and both NIH and industry funded clinical trials.

In January 2027, the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology will move into a new, state-of-the-art Neurological Institute building, providing a once in a lifetime environment for interdisciplinary clinical work and discovery.
