White Memorial Medical Group is seeking a PA-C or NP to join our gastroenterologists expanding practice. This is an opportunity for a new graduate or seasoned advanced care practitioner to gain experience in the field of gastroenterology and begin a career as a GI PA or NP. Work closely with the attending gastroenterologist to diagnose, manage, and treat GI disorders. The main scope of the work will be to assist the gastroenterologist with seeing patients in the outpatient setting. You will have the opportunity to become proficient at managing the colorectal cancer screening process and treating common GI disorders including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, fatty liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids, etc. Eventually, if desired, will have the option to see patients in the inpatient setting as well.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluate and assess patients GI disorders
- Treat GI disorders under the supervision and guidance of a gastroenterologist
- Write and chart notes using EMR
- Prescribe and refill medications using EMR
- Navigate the healthcare system, referring patients to receive diagnostic tests and treatments
- Assist with coordinating care for patients with nursing staff and other physicians
- Educate patients
Ideal Candidates:
We are looking for candidates who are mission minded and interested in making a difference in the lives of patients living in Boyle Heights. Spanish is the primary language of most of our patients; therefore, Spanish language ability is greatly preferred. The candidate must possess a healthy curiosity and a desire to learn and understand complex pathophysiology. Reading primary resources, textbooks, and journal articles will be expected.
Certifications:
- Must have an active State of California License as a PA-C or NP
- Must be certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (if PA)
- Much be certified by the California Board of Registered Nursing (if NP)
Experience:
- Prior experience in Internal Medicine/Family Practice will be helpful
Beginning salary will range from $100-200k depending on experience and qualifications
