The Department of Neurosurgery and the Center for Spine and Pain Medicine in the Neurological Institute at the Cleveland Clinic are seeking a full-time, academic spine surgeon to be based at our main campus in Cleveland, Ohio. Academic rank at the Assistant or Associate Professor level will be determined by qualification and experience.

The applicant must be board certified/board eligible neurosurgical or orthopaedic spine surgeon; spine fellowship training is required. Responsibilities will include clinical care, teaching, and research activities.

The Spine and Pain Medicine Center is a uniquely integrated department including orthopaedic and neurosurgical trained spine surgeons, medical spine specialists, including physiatrists, interventionalists, osteopathic physicians, psychologists, advanced practice practitioners, specialty trained nurses as well as a comprehensive chronic pain rehabilitation program. The Center features fellowship programs in both spine surgery, spine medicine, and anesthesia pain medicine the former of which is the largest in the United States. In addition to a dynamic, collaborative clinical and surgical practice, the position requires participation in resident and fellow teaching as well as basic, translational, biomechanical and/or clinical research. Clinicians in the Center for Spine and Pain Medicine work closely with other specialists in the Neurological Institute, particularly in the Center for Neuroimaging to provide evidence-informed, comprehensive world class spine care.

The Neurological Institute advances research into neurological disease and conducts clinical therapeutic trials to support patients with neurological issues. The Neurological Institute is a multidisciplinary research collaboration that combines the expertise of clinical principal investigators with state-of-the-art imaging and data analysis to establish and implement new approaches to the treatment of neurological disease. In addition, the Neurological Institute trains clinical fellows, full-time research fellows, and residents as next generation clinical research scientists. Opening in 2027, the Neurological Institute will introduce a brand new 1 million square feet Neurological Hospital at our Main Campus. This new facility is dedicated to diagnosing, treating and researching conditions of the brain, nervous system and spine. Cleveland Clinic Center for Spine and Pain Medicine, a major center for spine-related treatment and research, is on the forefront of developing new technologies and collaborative approaches for effectively managing back and neck disorders.
