Hematology/Oncology Physician

This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to provide expert hematology and oncology services within a dynamic outpatient department, supporting adult patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As a key member of our team, you'll deliver top-tier clinical care while working alongside dedicated healthcare professionals and state-of-the-art facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient Hematology/Oncology consultations and treatment planning for adult patients aged 18 and above.
- Support clinical operations in both Abingdon and Marion locations, including coverage for scheduled clinic hours and rotational call responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate documentation through EPIC Beacon EMR system.
- Participate in special procedures, infusion treatments, and patient management protocols.
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams including nurse navigators, palliative care, dieticians, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
- Comply with all licensure, certification, and safety requirements.
Required Skills:
- Board certification or at least pending exam for board certification in Hematology or Oncology.
- Virginia medical license.
- DEA certification and current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in hematology or oncology.
- Ability to work independently with excellent clinical judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with patients and team members.
- Proficiency with EPIC Beacon EMR documentation.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with infusion therapy and outpatient oncology procedures.
- Familiarity with radiation oncology settings.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, or Palliative Care certification.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency or fellowship in Hematology/Oncology.
- Prior outpatient oncology experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with occasional Friday clinics every third week.
- Support call coverage every three weeks, including night and weekend shifts.
- Clean background check—no pending or settled malpractice cases.
- Ability to secure Virginia license, DEA registration, and credentialing within 60-90 days.
- Travel expenses related to professional duties are billable.
