  • Manage common cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure, myopericarditis, and primary or secondary arrhythmias, along with the broader internal medicine needs of hospitalized patients.
  • Coordinate care across the inpatient stay, including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning, and transition to appropriate outpatient resources.
  • Collaborate with Cardiology, Advanced Practice Providers, and other medical and surgical specialties to support high-quality, continuous care.
  • Support the education and development of medical students, residents, and future fellows through clinical teaching.

  • Primary attending service with a high degree of physician autonomy.
  • Cardiology consultation and collaborative clinical input available as appropriate.
  • Focused cardiovascular patient population selected using established clinical criteria.
  • No ICU care is provided by this role.
  • Night cross-coverage is provided through the Hospitalist nocturnist team, with Cardiology APP support available as needed.
  • Structured onboarding includes dedicated time alongside Cardiology to build familiarity with the patient population, workflows, and evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio, or ability to obtain appropriate licensure before practice.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active medical staff privileges within Premier Health.
  • Current ACLS certification and ongoing completion of required Continuing Medical Education.
  • Strong foundation in internal medicine and comfort independently managing hospitalized patients with common cardiovascular conditions.
  • Commitment to evidence-based care, interdisciplinary collaboration, timely documentation, quality improvement, and excellent patient communication.

Why This Role

This opportunity offers a distinctive way to practice hospital medicine: deeper exposure to cardiovascular disease, meaningful collaboration with Cardiology, and the autonomy to manage patients throughout the hospitalization.
