The University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita (KUSM-Wichita) Family Medicine Residency Program at Wesley Medical Center is seeking board-certified family physicians for residency faculty positions.
Entering its 52nd year, the Wesley family medicine residency is one of the oldest and most respected programs in the country. Residency founder G. Gayle Stephens MD developed the core tenets of family medicine education that became the blueprint for the original family medicine ACGME accreditation requirements. The program remains one of the most competitive in the country with outstanding residents and faculty, recognized for its clinical education.
KUSM-Wichita ranks #6 in the country for production of primary care physicians, #1 in rural and #2 in health professional shortage areas. (Academic Medicine). 25% of KUSM-Wichita students go into family medicine each year, consistently ranking the school in the top ten in the country. (Family Medicine). There is strong local and statewide support for family medicine in Kansas with an active state academy and family physician leaders throughout the state. Relationships with subspecialty colleagues are excellent.
