A full-time neuropathologist/surgical pathologist position is open at the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. The candidate will share diagnostic neuropathology responsibilities with another neuropathologist and participate in general surgical pathology sign-out. Applicants must have an MD/DO board certification in AP or AP/CP, board certification or eligibility in neuropathology, and be able to obtain a Michigan license. An active neurosurgery service across eight hospitals ensures a wealth of interesting and diverse neuropathology material. There is a weekly multidisciplinary neuroscience conference and a monthly pediatric neurology conference.
Beaumont Health is a not-for-profit organization composed of eight hospitals with 3,337 beds in the southeast Michigan region. Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is a 1109-bed facility located in Royal Oak, Michigan. The department at Royal Oak performs on an annual basis approximately 54,000 surgical accessions and 90,000 cytology accessions. We offer specialized services such as flow cytometry, molecular pathology and cytogenetics. Beaumont Health is aligned with Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. There is a pathology residency and the candidate will participate in education of rotating neurology and neurosurgery residents, in addition to education of pathology residents and fellows.
The successful candidate will join the department of 30 pathologists and 6 PhDs. Academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Although this position is be based at the Royal Oak Campus, individuals may cover work from any/all affiliate hospitals and may potentially rotate at other sites.
